A clever twist. From the previous panel, I am sure most of the readers believed Mythu had gone on another "feeding frenzy". But this does seem a bit "out of character" for him. After all, he had no qualms eating the pony and unicorn (which I hope we don't see magically coming back, as there can always be more ponies and unicorns, and these two should have been turned into fertilizer by now).
